Arabian Offer for Italian Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon
An offer of great value has been received by Italian veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon from a Saudi Arabian club, according to the Italian newspaper “Corriere dello Sport”.
The winner of the 2006 World Cup is still continuing his career in the Italian Serie B, after returning to Parma in the summer of 2021. In the previous season, he played in 19 matches in all competitions.
“Corriere dello Sport” explains on page 21 how Gianluigi Buffon is the latest big star attracting the attention of Saudi Arabia, with an offer worth approximately 30 million euros net per season.
The 45-year-old Italian goalkeeper, who still has one more year left in his contract with Parma, now has three options on the table: continuing with Parma, retiring from football, or accepting the Saudi offer.
If Buffon accepts, he will be the second Italian to play in the Saudi Professional League after Sebastian Giovinco, who played for Al Hilal from 2019 to 2021.
